Professor Serge Tshibangu
Professor Serge Tshibangu is the current Chairman of the US/UK Africa Business Council, an US and DRC based organisation that helps American, British and African businesses to navigate the complexities of doing business in the DRC. Through his Business council, he has been serving as trusted intermediary in order to strengthen commercial ties between the DRC, the US, the UK and African countries.
Another part of his crucial work is to support the interests of DRC, US UK and African member companies by providing advocacy, leadership, research, business intelligence, and building key business relationships for companies doing business and/or planning to do business in the DRC and through the DRC, with African economic blocs where the DRC is affiliated: EAC, SADC, ECCAS, ICRGL.
To that effect, he is working with his Business Council to influence policies and strategic choices of businesses, decision-makers, governments and sub-regional organisations.
Professor Serge Tshibangu worked at the office of the DRC President and held various positions including Special Envoy of the President and High Representative of the President. He was described as the "brain" behind the DRC President's foreign policy, notably representing the DRC at high-level international events, such as the U.S. presidential inauguration in January 2025.
He has also been an actor of regional peace processes in Africa, notably the Luanda and Nairobi processes, which cover political consultations with local armed groups to encourage them to lay down their arms and demobilize. He conducted a lot of studies and research on the illegal mining exploitation, minerals smuggling and financial flows and their links to wars and terrorism.
