Strategic Initiatives & Advocacy

Driving Policy and Investment in Key Sectors

The Council engages stakeholders to advocate for strategic, large-scale initiatives that unlock the DRC and Africa's economic potential and create a more attractive investment environment -- focusing on tangible projects that foster sustainable growth.

Full Overview

The Council actively engages with stakeholders to advocate for strategic initiatives that will unlock the economic potential of the DRC and Africa and create a more attractive investment environment. Our advocacy is focused on tangible, large-scale projects and policies that foster sustainable growth.

Our Key Initiatives

  • Infrastructure Development: We advocate for the design, construction, and modernization of critical rail and road freight corridors -- including the Lobito Corridor, Banana Corridor, and the Southern Corridor of the Great Lakes Region -- to enhance regional connectivity and trade.
  • Special Economic Zones (SEZs): The Council promotes the creation of the Great Kasai Special Economic and Industrial Zone to attract U.S., U.K., and global multinationals and SMEs for the local processing of critical minerals and agricultural products.
  • Local Value & Trade Policy: We advocate for the local production and processing of goods, enabling products to be more competitive within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the U.S. market through the AGOA framework.
  • Curbing Illicit Trade: We are initiating working groups to curb mining fraud and the smuggling of 3T minerals, gold, and lithium -- developing integrated strategies to dismantle illicit networks and strengthen traceability initiatives.
  • Investment Promotion: We promote investment and trade in key regions, such as the Ruzizi plain, to foster localized economic development and job creation.
